Tried the clutch before to make sure it 100% fitted the 1800 flywheel and it does so when jon comes to time the cams up ill ask him to take the flywhell away to be lightened and balanced...

Laquered the rocker cover so now its finished -

Not much to update on tbh as ive been at FCS all weekend...

but when i drove the car on Friday night enthusiastically the kenlopwe fan has came off again (sh!te fan ties) and ive split a coolant hose where its bodged on with abit of 22mm copper pipe so gonna have go a scrappy tmoz to see what i can find..

whilst im there i also need a oil breather plate fitting off a mk4/5 with the 13mm nipple insted of the 8mm one on atm to save me having to reduce it down... also i need the middle part of the cam belt cover as mines split...

Also dropped the Flywheel off at Shawspeed on thursday for jon to send it away to get lightened and balanced as they weigh 8kgs as standard lol

Kenlowe fan re-fitted AGAIN with cable ties this time.

Went to a scarpy earier and got the Cam-belt cover i needed and a random coolant hose off an CVH Escort mk5 to replace the split one... will sort that tmoz once i have a 19mm pipe joiner.

Also Al (wide ka) is ordering me a Brand new MK3 RS1800 radiator.

Should have the new inlet manifold and Red Carb hoses by the end of next week too.

Bought a catch tank off ebay last night, should be here tmoz

and Jon has ordered me a Filter king fuel pressure regulator/filter instead of my random seperat ones i have atm.

changed that hose... old vs new -

catch tank arrived today -

wont be fitting it till the zetecs in...

Should be able to pick the rad up early next week from the ford dealer in warrington as thats where Als gonna send it to saves me paying 6quid postage..

so by next friday i should have the cams fitted and timed up along with fitting the rocker cover with the new gasket, new flywheel and clutch on, new inlet manifold and the rad

Ive decided im gonna do the engine swap straight after Ford fair, was planning on doing it after cadwell on the 7th in that 3 week gap before FF but dont wanna have to rush too much tbh, i like to get things done but dont wanna end up having to get it jetted the friday before ford fair lol

So plans before Cadwell in 3 weeks is to have the gauges wired up, the discs and pads fitted and new road tyres.

thought id make most of the afternoon today as i finished work at 2 so decided id make the new ally plate for the gauges which i had in my ZS (Oil pressure and temp.)...

cut to size, holes drilled with 51mm holesaw, sanded and primered -

looks right at home imo...

they're all wired up together they just need wiring to an earthing point, 12v inginition, illumination etc... will do that sometime soon hopefully when f0xy has a spare hour

also just payed for the mk3 zetec radiator from al...

and bought myself a Brand new xr2i CVH starter motor as its a little shorter than the xr2 one so wont need to remove the ashely manifold if it ever fails like i would have to with a xr2 one.

Picked up the new Mk3 Zetec Radiator this morn -

another new item awaiting to go on, my rooms getting quite cluttered now lol


interiors in bits atm lol... just wired up the earth and senders for the gauges, doing the rest with f0xy tmoz and help with his soldering iron.

Had an E-mail the other day formt he guys whos been making me the inlet manifold up -

just payed for it, should be here early next week id imagine

also bought a top raditor hose that goes to the thermostat housing off a fiesta Si that turned up today too.

Just earthed the pressure sender and took the dash parts out ready to wire the gauges up mayeb later if not probs tmoz.

Jon should have the cams back tmoz so think hes coming down to fit/time them up for metmoz evening and also bring the flywheel, be interesting to see how much its been lightened by.

orederd some new tyres on saturday, should be here tmoz

jon has the cams back just waiting on flywheels then hes coming to fit them

also had a moment with a curb on friday night and bent the rear beam and also done this to the chassis leg...

the guy at the body repair place said the chassis leg is very common to go on these as they are like the weakest point on the car...

and he just said get a new rear beam will i will done once the fornts sorted..

the guy said well if your planning on taking the engine out soon anyways itll be FAR easier and cheaper for me to remopve it and then let him take it form there, he said he'll come pick it up too which is a bonus just hope he can find a new chassis leg tho, im gonna do the rear beam once the fornts sorted and its 'driveable' again...

so the progress -

drained oil & coolant
re-fitted sump plug instead of the temp sensor
removed braided hose and oil press. sender
removed hoses, header tank and rad
removed carbs
removed coil pack
removed starter
remove alternator
removed exhaust manifold and system
disconnected gear linkage and stabiliser bar


xr2 vs new xr2i starter-

Hopefully have the engine and box out tmoz or friday night

the guy has done a mint job!

ond the hoses i got obviously need cutting down to suit the room in the engine bay, probs have to knock off about 1'' off them.

also i got hold of a lower rad hose of a RS1800 too, that arrived today...

aim is to have it all done, run in and jetted for Ford Fair...

then got home called Jord and Bren for some help and we got the engine out after diconnecting the clutch cable and driveshafts we made it lol -

Went to ford yesterday and bought/ordered a RS1800 inlet manifold gasket and some new pinch bolts, going to collect them thursday once im back for Cadwell.

also gave the Gearbox a lick of paint last night -

then went to jords factory to fit the alternator bracket onto the 1800 and fit the zetec alternator pulley onto the CVH alternator as thats what im going to use over the zetec one as its lighter, no need to alter wiring and can use a shorter belt therefore mpre clearenece between the alternator and the fornt crossmember...

Then went to halfods to get some Oil and some ready mixed coolant.

Then got back and just put the wheels on and lowered the car back down ready to be collected tmoz-

The guy at Palatine motors picked the car up at 11am this morning, had no call yet to see how they're doing tho

Fitted the Filter king fuel pressure reg/filter yesterday after modifying the plate that comes with it -

Exhaust manifold should be here tmoz.

Ordered a aluminium blank, three pipe joiners and one reducer earlier to complete the coolant side of things, shoudl be here tmoz too

still waiting on the cvh.zetec engine mount to arrive.

Ashley manifold has arrived -

Just been and got 2 new track rod ends -

and just rang the repair place now and its on the jig now as we type

Cars all done been jigged etc, their dropping it off in the morning.

joiners, reducer etc arrived whilst ive been away at Cadwell the past few days -

collecting the inlet manifold gasket and pinch bolts tmoz, then gonna start work on it.

Need a new CV boot too as we split one when removing the old ones, either that or it was already split but theres no grease everywhere.

The supplier for the flywheel sent it out yesterday so hopefully jon will have it tmoz and will come to fit the cams and flywheel then hopefully can have the engine in Saturday

straight away jacked the car up, fitted the new track rod ends onto the rack -

then took the offside ball joint/lower arm/tie bar off as one side needs to be to get clearence to fit the zetec -

then went to ford to get the inlet manfiold gasket & pinch bolts

then went to Northwest Performance and got a new CV boot fitted to the nearside driveshaft.

he didnt mention it tbh, just dropped my car off, i checked it out, payed him, away he went lol

Jon from Shawspeed came round around 6is last night, got the cams in timed up etc... then i fitted new rocker cover gasket -

then cam belt cover on, new NGK plugs and fitted the leads -

flywheel on -

clutch on -

New helix release bearing fited and box ready to go on -

box on and dragged round to the front of the car with some idiot -

about an hour our later after getting VERY wet we got it in, sorry for the pic as it was taken at like 10 last night lol -

and just been dodgeing the rain for the past 2 hours...

progress is... Driveshafts are on, track rod ends are on, nearside ball joint is on, gear linkage is done, speedo cable is done, went over all the engine mounts again with my socket to make sure everythings tight...

once the rain stops/basically tmoz ill get the offside ball joint/lower arm back on, exhaust manifold on, starter on, oil temp and prssure sensirs done depending on the weather maybe more
