Is TCR backbox sane as GTI performance backbox?

No DCC unfortunately. Nope, it's a different unit. Essentially a Clubsport S one, but with the tips spaced slightly further apart to suit the facelift diffuser. It's a little louder than the TCR though as mine doesn't have the OPF.

Sits nice that 👍 hows the ride in general now not to harsh and crash? Was looking at Eibach or H&R for mine bit I have DCC how that would affect it is car mapped?
It rides just as well now as before on the standard springs, I really can't feel any differences in terms of smoothness.
The H&R's and Racingline ones sit a little lower going off what I've read online. The Eibach's are just a subtle drop and still clear all the speed bumps in my area. Which coming from Megane's with coilovers on sitting too low is a nice thing
The DCC cars use the same springs, it's just the damper that's different.
No, engine is totally standard on mine mate. May get it mapped in the future.

Had the daily smoker remapped yesterday. Not totally sure on the figures quoted but it sure does shift now

Wrong thread I know, but the word eco reminded me... do you think it's possible/worth getting a remap on one of those 1ltr turbo ecoboost engines?
This seems to be a common mod.
How does it feel? Quite tempted by one but I don’t really want to add a load of vibrations.

It makes a difference in terms of acceleration as the wheels don’t hop around any more.
You can feel the vibrations mainly on start up and idle but wouldn’t say it’s mega intrusive, just come back from the lakes and car felt perfectly fine. I suppose yellow would have been more suitable but they didn’t have it in stock at awesome when I called down so went for the purple simply because I’m impatient.

Had a leak on the drivers rear since I bought the car. But it’s only enough that it drops overnight.
Spotted the Arnott replacements on Euros on offer for £360 each, so thought to replace the pair.
Definitely regret not checking the boxes before I left. I thought something was amiss when the boxes were different sizes.

I had the yellow one on the Cupra and hardly ever had vibrations, especially after a few hundred miles.
One of the best mods I did though.

In light of the discussions on the BMW thread about gearbox servicing, I thought it would be interesting seeing how much it would cost.
Spoke to the local VW specialist, who claimed that my car had a ZF8, though I’m almost definitely sure it’s the Aisin box.
Anyways…..
He gave me two prices. One was £1000 which was genuine Audi oil, the other was £800 for genuine ZF oil
I was expecting them to say around 3-400 quid.

I have a question for all the VAG experts out there. How similar is the diagnostic equipment across all the group brands? For example, if you buy a VW diagnostic unit (I'm talking pro workshop type stuff), would it work on Audi's and Seats? What about the likes of Porsche and Bentley? Or is it all protected to stop people working on everything?

How deep does it go? I know Ford have started multiple networks into their cars to stop people from accessing anything outside the stuff that has to be universal.

OBD Eleven has the ability to access the SFD ( locked diagnostics ) in all new VAG products,
It's only there as technically you could be driving down the road and someone could hack your car and do silly things like turn off the power steering or fire the ABS etc, so it more a safety feature rather than trying to stop people diagnosing.

I know a lot of you have owned and worked on MK4 Golfs, anyone know anything about steering racks?
Mine has blown the passenger side seal it just pisses all it's fluid on the floor until it's empty, instead of trying to fix it i'm just going to change it, problem is VAG forums are useless and full of contradictory info about what part for what year, a local breakers has two different racks for a MK4 so I don't know which one to buy, I thought they were all the same other than the R32.
My car is an 52 plate MK4 GT TDI PD130, which rack should I get as a straight swap with existing tie rods and track rod ends?
I'd also like to upgrade to a quicker rack off a MK1 Audi TT but that's a minefield of contradictory info, some say it's a straight swap, others say you need different tie rods, track rod ends, hubs, drive shafts, all kinds of sh*t, but as I understand it that's just the full TT subframe conversion, i've also read a different turning ratio can cause the ESP to kick mid corner so it needs to be rest with a computer, f*ck knows tbh i'm sick of reading Golf and VAG forums, anybody know anything about quick rack conversions?

Current reasoning - it’s a daily for my wife for the most part. Ideally we’d have a Golf daily hatchback and then something more interesting for me (340i x drive) but other circumstances with the housing market has stopped that for now.
- Audi S3 sportback too small a boot.
- S4 avant not as big a boot and pushes the budget of £30k (I’d like adaptive cruise so that means 2018+).
- Cupra 280 estate - awful stretchy interior
Limited to other options as my wife wants a golf…

The Golf R boot is massive, they go really well as standard and actually return decent fuel economy - the only thing that seems to haunt them is a failed thermostat housing iirc. Although not a show stopper - worth checking its been done or negotiate it.
IMO the Leon Cupra estate is far better looking, although shares the same problem as above.
Yes it is, I have the Alltrack which has been superb. And I could mod that to make an extremely fast car... all buy a shiny new one

Also, the haldex pump on the back axle needs properly serviced, Audi/Volkswagen only change the oil, it needs the gauze filter taken out and properly cleaned, DSG oil intervals are 40k also, these are not massively expensive jobs to have done.

Trying to find the right one. Have two of four currently on the market that have everything I want (7.5 estate in blue with a sunroof, keyless and reversing camera). Drove the first on Monday and loved it, but they're cocking me around on trade in value (because they don't want it). Second I'll be seeing on Saturday.
