trade in price for my 172 cup

  Titanium ph1 turbo
03 plate with 24k just serviced.. totally standard etc.. been offered £6200 trade in against an 04 scenic with 9k on the clock costing £8995 ...

what do u think? am i being robbed? or does it seem a fair deal.

*edit*

oh yeh, and the 2700 difference ive been offered on their finance at 4% apr..

Seems fair but check that finance rate, APR sounds to low to me, i know we can do a 4% FLAT RATE. Just check the difference.

it means u pay 4% a year interest on the amount of money u borrow.

I reckon the trade in is reasonable although you will always get it better private.

I think ther 4% flat is around 7%APR IIRC.

is flat rate basically the rate minus the bank of england rate?

e.g. 3.75% BOE + 4% = 7.75% APR ?

I guess i need to say then, if anyone is wanting a cheap cup make me an offer.. i'm going to go back to them tomorrow and tell them I want at least £6600 for my cup, I think £6200 is a bit poor...

the other dilemma I have is their scenic is £8995 with 9k on the clock, registered jan 04 wtih 1yr warranty left.. for an extra 2.5k I can buy a brand new one.... what should I do.

Dunno mate, I really couldnt cope with the idea of a scenic being my everyday, but suppose cars have to change as life changes. Personally I go with new for an extra 2.5k as at least you'll know how its been treated from new. no prangs or anything. If you get the chasis number of the scenic, you can ring renault uk and ask for any warranty work that its had carried out. Gave me piece of mind on the 172!!

yeh, i really dont wanna part with the cup, but got a 4 week old baby now and getting the buggy in the cup means removing parcel shelf, then theres no boot space for anything else etc.. girlfriend moaning on etc..

i'll get another decent car again one day, i've still got my minter 5 turbo in the garage for the summer... ^^

paul g didnt realise you changed over especially after fitting coilovers to the cup!!

whooof!!

You have one baby and the cup has to go?? :S

I've only had hot hatches in the 13 years since my son was born!!
No need for a scenic just yet!!

I was also wondering how much a second hand cup is worth as trade.

Also, people seem to have a different view on the private sale price.

There are all sorts of different websites ranging from £7200 - £8000 (parkers/what car? etc...) for an '03' Cup with 15,000 miles.

My Renault Dealer told me not to sell mine any lower than £8500!!!

Who's right?

Cups are alot harder to sell, it wouldnt bother me but 90% of buyers want all the extra's that a standard 172 gets, i think that the dealer is winding you up, you could indeed get a miley 182 for that.

I would also look at a renault to go scenic or megane tourer, same platform as scenic and same space, just looks sleeker.....

Yeah I have found that Cups are alot harder to sell. I suppose it depends what you want it for. I sat in my mates 172 Sport and had a go in that and then got into my Cup and I was really suprised how different they feel in speed and handling! Really suprised!

So it's a little extra performance against air con etc... I suppose.
