which wheels for the 172

Im soon to be buying a 172, am very tempted for the cup but think ill end up gettin the non-cup version. so, i am deciding which wheels to get and cant make my mind up?! the obvious choice would be turinis as they do look awesome on the cup, but comp 2s and superleggaras have caught my eye. has anyone got pics of these on a 172 or any other wheels that suit it?

cheers, Tom :)

I have got superleggeras on mine but cannot get the pic to work if you go to http://www.road-racer.co.ukwww.road-racer.co.uk then go to galleries then events then click Tayside American Cruisers Show look at pic 58!! my 172 i know its a pain to go through all the above but its a cracking pic of the car and wheels.

forgot to mention its the mk2 172 im after. still dont know which to get?! the turinis look great but id be payin out good £ for wheels that are standard on the cup. seems abit of a waste to me. which are the best springs to get also? want it sittin just above the tyre, will eventually get coilovers but springs will do for starters.

cheers, Tom

I thought the same about Turinis..... but once they were on... lol.

I think the Apex springs will lower 40mm, but they are not progressive like the eibach pros. Thats what I recall anyway. Plenty of folk on here with springs to help you out.

good good. think i will go with the turinis. wheres the best place to buy em? ive tried k-tec, potn and s-link so far. not bad prices but k-tec seem abit more expensive than others?

where can you get lightweight wheels from? Seen them on ktecs site but they are poo looking, quite fancy reducing abit of unsprung weight

Ive seen so many different alloys, but I think the best-looking ones of all are the rims they come with in the first place!

I think a lot of the alloys you can buy are too gappy - they dont look so bad when all four wheels have disc brakes, but look terrible with drums (especially painted ones) - just IMHO.

  172CUP/Fiesta supersport

I am thinking the exact same thing as you B19-TSH, I have recently purchased a 172CUP and I want to get 17s but I dont want to sacrifice any performance and I want to keep to motorsport style wheels, superlegs comp MOs etc. I was thinking a lightweight superleg with a 195/40x17 would be ideal!!!!???? but very expensive.

sorry for hijack

i agree mate, but would never put 17s on a cup. itd feel sooo wrong. think ill end up gettin the cup to be honest be ill see. think the cup and coilovers is the way to go.
