If stock tyres are 60 profile, then 55 profile will be lower not higher. I'd go for the 185/55/15, they're the same width and only slightly lower profile.

I believe the oil pressure switches are quite prone to failing. Had to change mine a couple of months back. Cheap to buy and dead easy to fix, might be worth a try if you've checked all the obvious things.

Yep cliospares do them, about 35 quid from memory.

I don't have a name for my car but this thread has got me thinking..... I could call it Squeak as that's what the fecking thing does all the time as you drive down the road. Rattle and Creak are equally as apt but I didn't think they were quite as endearing.
