Great day yesterday servicing for Rob and Joe competing in the MK2 Escort powered by an S2000 engine on ITB's.

Had an eventful day with brake fade issues which we rectified by bleeding the brakes with new SRF. Then the gearbox started playing up... Jumping out of gear and eventually not selecting 1st, 2nd or reverse. Luckily this only happened right before the last stage which they had to start the stage in 3rd gear ?

Hopefully we'll manage to get it fixed before Cadwell in 2 weeks.

Makes me want to get the Clio out ASAP seing everyone else rallying ?

Same here mate. Didn’t realise you were there yesterday. Would of loved to of had the Clio ready and would of liked to of see where we would of come as our times with rob on the prom were very similar

Was a cracking day wasn't it. Didn't realise you were either until I saw your Instagram story later in the day haha. Shame mate will have to get it there next year! You'd be pretty close I reckon yeah. Was looking forward to seeing Steve Quigley going round but he didn't turn up for some reason :(

Yeah I didn’t realise until I seen your Instagram too. I had a proper look at the results then and my car is about as quick as Chris berry’s escorts. So I wouldn’t of been far off I don’t think. Definitely one to do next year.

And I know. That’s one of the reasons why I wanted to go. Not sure how true it is but I’ve been told it’s got a 2.0 millington in it now. That 197 didn’t go as well as I thought it might. Looked very flat

Quick that then! Definitely see you there if you do mate!

Bloody hell that'll be a machine and a half if its true... I thought exactly the same thing it didn't look as fast as I expected it to be, perhaps it could be down to driver but don't know?!

I spoke with Blair a few times, its a new car to him and that was his second event in it and for his co-driver (Wife to be) the car needs a few bits sorting which he is going to get done over the next few months

Ahh fair enough makes sense then! I'll be exactly the same when I start lol.

I shall see you there if you're going pop over and say hi!

  Twingo 133 Cup,
It's alway hard when your just starting out. On my first full rally I started 151 and finished 67 oa I thought that was OK. Seat time helps a lot!

  Twingo 133 Cup,
Definitely! I wasn't tryna slate him haha was just saying it could be driver for that exact reason mate. I'll do nowhere near as well as that first one I do lol
I have only ever done 2 rally both being Mull. I would of been happy finishing tbh but was happy that in a standard engined puma we beat a few turbo 4x4 cars and a 1600 civic type r that's currently on ebay for 16k!. I am hoping once my Twingo is finished I can get more seat time like when I used to road rally. Need to see how a Twingo rally car pans out first lol

I'd love a Twingo rally car lol, my daily 133 Cup is ace fun

Airbox and ducting is all back on now and we managed to sort the steering out after removing the column.. such an annoying job.
The tracking is miles out now though due to the spline obviously not going back in the same place, so that needs doing again now.

Very uncomfortable car..

Also Alex put some stickers of her new re-branded website on the car. Free advertising...

Now the car's back to where it was before, I decided to buy a Fuel Sample kit to meet blue book regs. I opted for a Mocal one from DemonTweeks and bought it through Mark Jones. Placed the order at 4:30 yesterday and it arrived this morning at 11am. Cracking service as always.

Think I'll fit it next to the regulator as it should fit nicely there rather than on the end of the fuel rail either side.

Could of saved yourself some money. Fuel sample is not mandatory ? handy to have mind but I know they’re not the cheapest things in the world

Some more little bits tarting the car up and working towards the logbook that we've done over the past few weeks...

Terminal covers for the battery (required in blue book rules for positive terminal)

Adjusted the bias towards the front more today as the rears kept locking up at Curborough when we were out last. And stuck my pretty sticker on finally...

Mocal Fuel sample kit... Have also assembled the sample hose and will put it in my race suit bag so I never forget it at an event.

Also de-rusted and painted both front arches in black hammerite to make them look a bit smarter...

In other news I've booked my BARS test for the 24th November at Phil Price Rally School! Can't wait.

  Twingo 133 Cup,
Good luck with your test. It's quite simple and straightforward but as ever it's always a nervous time doing tests!

You're supposed to have terminal covers? I didn't know that. Scrutineer never mentioned it when he looked at my car.

Yeah I think so. Mine got logbooked with out them and 1 rally with nothing on them until the last event. My co driver has built plenty of cars and he said for me to cover them. Transit van covers fitted mine ?

Nice one mate!

Yeah it says somewhere it should be protected from things shorting out on it. I suppose it just depends on what scrutineer you get as usual ?

I just ordered some cheapy covers off eBay. If I find anything else that's wrong with mine, I'm just going to scrap it lol

Been the rule as long as I have been rallying. Even in road rallying you have to have them covered as we always had to use insulating tape!

You've obviously studied the blur book more closely than I have lol. Saying that, I know plenty of cars running without them.

Blur book is just so confusing. Just been told off at scrutenering a few times lol. Them ebay covers are a neat little idea though!

Not really had time to update this atm because of uni deadlines approaching and being really busy.

Forgot to update after my BARS test a couple weeks ago which I passed no probs and had a brilliant day at Phil Price Rally School.
He even took Alex out for a drive while I was doing my exam and was teaching her about co-driving all day.

Car wise the old plumbed in extinguisher has been removed and we bought a new FIA Approved OMP Sport System with the 6 nozzles. I made a mounting bracket for it over the last couple of evenings which turned out looking quite good and sturdy.

Also ground all the seat rails out to be replaced so that they can be welded properly this time... What a ballache that job was.

Also got a map pocket which has got our spill kit in for now until I figure out where it'll live for ever.
XCunb6S_d.jpg

I think todays jobs will be figuring out where to have the extinguisher nozzles mounted and pipe it all up.

Made a start on plumbing it in earlier, had to modify our extisting brackets to start with then bend and cut the pipe to suit. Also made another bracket that points a nozzle at the fuel rail area/front of the engine.

Can just see the three nozzles, two where they were before and one on the drivers side front.

New sticker for the Carbon bonnet and new posh OMP pull cord...

Just got to mount the inside nozzles somewhere and pipe the inside up, and run a pipe to connect what we made in the engine bay today ?

Been busy but not had time to update as usual!

New seat rails are welded in place now... underneath this time also! Excuse the broken camera quality...

They've also been primed up ready for re-painting most of the floor now too to tidy it up again.

Added some B-Pillar gussets to the cage too!
kfZKyAe.jpg

And primered them up ready for paint. Cage needs tidying up in a few areas as the paint isn't the best on it tbh so will do that when we get some paint for the gussets too.

New 8.5mm Magnecor leads which were a Christmas present from Alex...
Km34MM3.jpg

Also we've ordered our new seats and belts to replace the out of date ones. Brand new 2019 dated from RRS-France with some discount too which is a plus.
Screenshots below and they are being dispatched on Wednesday!

And also... We've decided our first event is going to be our local AGBO Stages at Weston Park on 17th March!! Best get the car sorted quick, lots to do!
