I thought they sorted the nest protect issues out now? they stopped selling them for a while, whilst they revised them I think.
Not sure I'd want to replace them all in 7 years time at that price though!
I'm guessing due to the full colour screen and the amount of data its transferring? Do you have solid walls or stud? could fit the cable in the wall.
If it were me, I might be thinking about putting it in the living room.
Can you plug it in to the mains in your living room and place it on a bookcase or something? granted it wont be in the ideal location in the living room as opposed to a hallway but it learns pretty quick so should still settle down.
We have ours in our hallway, just replaced the existing wired...

I've installed the 1st disc to my hdd, then partitioned (using the xbox 360) my usb stick and installed the play disc to that. My Elite would be too noisy running the disc tbh.
