KTM 990 SD / S60 D5
Looks pretty dam quick.
Looks epic. . If you're concerned about economy then I'd say a turbo isn't for you. .
And yet all modern hot hatches are turbo'd for fuel economy and emissions.
People need to have some confidence, i remember on lancerregister people were saying 350 was the limit on stock 6 pistons and rods, people are now running well over 400.. i dont recall seeing loads of megane failures at 330hp ??
No no, its the piss poor renault piston castings that cause it!! oh wait.... havent seen any pistons in pieces either :/

No you're definately right there. It's my toy, my aim is to burn as much petrol as possible when im in it
Have a look on Meganesport.net most failures are the rods bending or fueling problems.
Revs kill rods. simple as that. Seen LOADS of meg engines with engine damage on stage 2 upgrades (300+bhp/lb/ft, injectors etc) and it's usually from the same place
Lol so many Ktec bashers nowadays
Laine, the catcam rods come with catcam con rod bolts, they're a different thread to ARP's so cross them off your list. Regarding Turbo's I ran a GT2871R on a .86 turbine housing, There is no way it will do 400+bhp on a log manifold your EGT's will be through the roof.
Ah didnt realise they were different, all i know is they come with them (i wasnt going to buy seperately). I believe you had the compact GT28R cover which only supports the 52 trim compressor wheel, so i may have slightly more headroom there, HOWEVER 400bhp isnt really a goal im heading for, more of a 'it makes what it makes'
It's not the comp cover that was the issue it was the log manifold, T25 flange and small turbine wheel.

I agree that the manifold is a massive part of them problem. My point was I've never seen a gt2871r make what garret claim on any engine, regardless of manifold, comp housing, turbine housing etc.....
I think the normal gt3071r turbo is massively overlooked, ktec recently achieved 474bhp at the wheels with one on there clio, and best of all it easily outspooled a gt28rs and was running pretty low boost with a reasonable 1.6 bar.
With figures like that I'm not sure why Garrett bothered with a gtx version. LoL
- ACL Race bearings
Do you mean Conrods Big End bearings or Main bearings as well? I look around, and I can not found proper ACL Main Bearings for F4R engine (i.e. without pin lock)
If you want a good option for the bearings, have you looked into getting tagged ones done to try and discourage the centre main spinning which the F4R does like to do?
