WP53 OKO - Glacier White - 172 Cup

I'll start with apologising for the amount of photo's I take!

However, that's what projects are all about !?

The misses (cliolou) has owned Steve's tidy 172 Flamer, a DCI 100, and a Liquid Yellow 182 (still miss this car). I enjoyed driving each one of them and said one day I would get myself one at some point, and here we are.

Cammed and Ktec Chipped - Pretty sure it has a Ktec Stage 1 Map, but the cams I highly doubt

182 Gear Box - This was hardly a selling point - The speedo doesn't work !

So after a bit of a deal and cash my way the exchange was made, and the car is finally away from that ridiculous 'Swapz' website where most of it's wreckage came from :dapprove:

Fairwell to my Ibiza Cupra, owned it twice and spent a fortune on re-painting it etc but time for a bit of RenaultSport again!


This was last Sunday

I took the car straight to the garage and set about getting some pics before work began:

Out came the tools

Door pillar badges were missing so..

Yes I polished it after this

Stupid petrol cap and rear window stickers removed

As an emergency measure, borrowed my 5's William's wheels I had painted last month

Got a bit dark so drove home and unbolted the "cage" ..... also ST Orange but had started to be sanded down

On the new wheels

Next set about doing a few bits to the interior

How the centre console was fitted...

Unplugged and broken hazard switch

How the steering was... (Ball joint was LOOSE and tracking 3-4 degrees out...) So had this sorted on the finest laser equipment

Changed a blown reversing bulb for a reversing beeper, why not

Set about removing all the crap behind the console and dash, Nokia Bluetooth kit etc

Here shows other things that went in the bin (guess the bulb colour)

Sub earth

Amp live cable!

Loose switch

The seats

You may of noticed the "Carbon" the car was advertised with... It's now in the bin

Next up... The Ktec Stealth... Did not have a centre mount

At the same time I noticed this!! After one day!!

Found this and now connected the fogs work ...

Powerflex dogbone

Rear Mount

Centre Mount

Bought and fitted new centre mount

Sold the "cage"

Which paid for the new interior !

Needed a fair old clean

Sorted the carpet and shell out and found £2.57

Made the false floor fit the boot as a temp measure

How to open the bootlid.... This has to go ASAP so for the moment refitted the trim and used something a bit stronger...

Seats done !

Got this to replace the single light

Actually fitted a home for the tax disc

The bolt I found didn't stay in long

Chucked a spare on while my mate repaired the Toyo and gave it some Karcher loving..

Got the wheel back and wiped the car down

Tow eye fitted to take a bit of distraction from the damaged front bumper (bottom left)

Finally got my xenon's

2000 graded them wet with soap, need to get the buffer on them as the lense is quite misty and dull after removing the corrosion off them

Not a bad week's work, plenty more repairs, photos, tidy up's and changes to come no doubt !

The colour contrast is perfect on the white imo.. I will getting turinis done the same colour I think or maybe the 205-110 people go on about

Forgot to mention I changed the poorly painted black diamond also!

So many routes I could go with it, did fancy white turinis but borderline if it will look ok and keeping up the cleaning of them. The bootlid needs to be next!

The bootlid reminds me of how the sub and amp wiring was installed! How hard would it of been for a button and solonoid! The bootlid job isnt too bad itself but thrown on the car and needs to be thrown off

Looks so much better after the few changes you have made.
Is there wiring still going to the tailgate, if so use the wiper wiring to power a solenoid saves running new wiring and switch.

There is mate yes. However I plan on putting an OE bootlid on as I want badges and think the rear looks a little plain

I would, but just not the way the guy had fitted it, and it was half orange, half rubbed down to metal. I guy I sold it too had now scotched it all down and polished it up with some metal polish and it actually looks better now

The guy was planning to change all the orange to purple, then get a carbon boot and bonnet, which I assume would be vinyl wrapped.. Would of looked.. err.. great

I liked the tailgate in the first pictures I seen of it, but the practicality of it annoys me, even if it had a switch and solenoid which is simple to sort, I still don't think it would go with how I'm aiming the car to look

Not a great deal I can do to it really pal

It has a decat, ktec stealth system, K&N Apollo filter which i'll refit the cover to like a BMC, ktec matched inlets with receipt, and a ktec stage one map however unsure if this is true, apart from some cams, which he claimed it also had, I'm sure not, but 99% it isn't cammed, probably just thought the slightly lumpy cold idle mean't it was.

Not spending silly money on turbo conversions or the like

The exhaust joins upfront are blowing like no tomorrow sounds so unhealthy from the exhaust hanging down has probably strained the gaskets I guess.

As I said pal, the car ended up on that 'Swapz' site where most of the damage and mess came from! Although I'm not to fussed as feels good returning everything to a good standard again. The shell itself it white throughout, underneath, wheel arches, floors, engine bay which is lovely to have.

I think it's Glacier White but yet to confirm this, need to look at some Clio colour charts. White mirrors and replacement bootlid needed

I looked at this before I got the 182, ph2 clios in white just seems right for some reason, but the condition of it put me off + what they were asking. Be nice to see it when its looking how it should. As Mcgherkin said, bring it to a meet.

First few days were a good start indeed. Lots of things to do as ive said but must have about ten deliveries on the way this week ha!

I probably could of got a better Clio to start with but I just couldn't step away from White!

Its in hiding from meets until im happy with it

3M Restore for the xenons arrived:

Hazing and water marking

Work began..

(I completed the 500 (pictured), 800, 3000 and then final polish stage with the 3M kit)

No further photos due to the sun going down and wanted to get it done

Results

Ordered silver bulbs to de-tango all the lights (nice to have a spare)

HIDS Direct - 6000k Xenon Bulbs

Lancia/FIAT/Alfa - Mist type washer jets

YES ! Found this...

Which arrived like this...

Bad times...

The company did apologise profoundly, gave me a full refund, and said keep it to use it for parts..

So I'm a little closer to an OE bootlid !




Thanks to Brian for agreeing to send out a folder instead of a bottle opener etc for the paperwork to be kept tidy

The Richmond Tax disc kept coming away from the screen, so got a magnetic easy change one instead

And a narrow plate for good measure (to be stuck on of course)

Nothing pictured in this post has made it onto the car, so when weather allows... more to come with what's been going on

Replaced my water damaged rear view for an OE un-damaged one

Twin interior light in

'Mist' Washer Jets - Before and after

Tax back in the windscreen with easy fit holder

Cleaned off layers and layers of double sided tape for the narrow plate - Yes I can see that bumper crack..

Silvertechs in the rear

Bumper off for the Black Xenon's, Silvertechs, side light delete, and 6000k Bulbs

Old headlights... Spare bulb anyone? Not even connected to the adjuster :S

Changed the horn whilst I was there... Beep Beep at last!

Misses arrived home with a delivery.. Bootlid #2 - Thanks Renparts

Off to collect a replacement bumper tomorrow

Custom floor mats I had made up to match the coloured Phase One interior

A change from the usual RS items, but with a boot mat thrown in, and no loss of quality
