A huge amount more happened in this clutch / gearbox process, but very happy to know it's done correctly.

If I had a crane with me, I would of been one mount, or a few bolts away from pulling the whole engine out itself.

Took it to the end of the street and back, speedo working, auto lock kicked in, and things were feeling good apart from the camber was miles out.

So went to pull the wheels off but the passenger side bolts decided to ...:mad::mad::mad:

SAM_0245_zps62fda03b.jpg

Fix one, gain another I guess!

Will be sat around until the replacement hub arrives to save me faffing around with removing the studs

Sigh ! :D

Ha thanks John

Always been real aware of wheel bolts since a garage years ago used an air gun damaging the bolt threads, the alloy it self, and chewing the lockers !

I had only just tightened these up, rolled down the street and back, and they un-done like toffee :( All on the passenger side hub

Glad they didn't pop off on a corner so replacing any suspect ones now but not a good end to the job at all, the clutch surprised me more, can only put it down to the heat from it slipping causing it as I have been nursing it since I've had it ?!

EDIT: I've just noticed one of the snapped wheel bolts are different !

Yeah I need a stud extraction kit or something ideally as don't want to sit there drilling them, and can't get anything on them at the moment.

So will replace the hub itself and just sell the other one once repaired or keep as a spare.

Snapping bolts while driving.. no time for dat!

How long did it take you I lost drive yesterday and now I have to suffer the cold as well! I have gears but no drive and my clutch was right at the top and only had to touch the pedal a little to engage it!

Thanks for getting bk to me

I'll be honest here..

Get someone to give you a hand
There is a guide on here to speed things up for you
Make a hard weekend of it, and you'll do it (If you know what your doing and you have all the bits you need)

It took me almost two weeks because of the following:

Working till 5 and it being dark when I got home and had to do it on weekends
The weather.. being stood in the rain covered in s**t isn't the best
Hitting a couple of problems on the way (CV Boot wasn't seated and leaked around a litre of oil onto the floor etc..)
DON'T DO IT AT CHRISTMAS WHERE EVERYWHERE IS SHUT

Loving your work btw.. love white clios..

Thanks pal

It was the selling point for me, however I could of had a far better car but I enjoy a good project and didn't want to go through the respray route, been there to many times. The paint on this comes up well where I have touched it apart from the front bumper which will get sorted with the mirror caps

Thanks mate, I'm off until 2nd of jan so gonna start it Sunday I think as when I go bk to work I will have no chance! I know my way around cars enough to tackle it my self just hoping it's the clutch as someone said it was my gear box? Thinking of getting a fast road clutch what do we recommend?

Was going to say that one of the bolts is different but just read you've seen it.

Do you think that could have been the cause?

I have no idea really, but my money suggests it didn't help, although they felt fine when I swapped the wheels over when I got it, and when I put them back on after the clutch change. I could understand if I used a breaker bar and jumped on it but I spun them on with a socket then used a wheel brace and just quarter turn nipped them like I've done for many years on car, never cream them up.

Never mind it's minor in the scheme of whats gone on so far mate :)

Hmm very strange. It could have been a lot worse though!

It's a good job you weren't flying down the motorway or anything.

Unless running forced induction a valeo kit is best by a long way

So nice to see this car being returned to its former glory! I know the last 4 owners of this car (except the lad you bought it off)... Was a lovely car and well looked after until one of them got their hands on it...

Have subscribed to this, will be nice to see it again!!

I had Sam Wood Facebook me yesterday talking about the car as well pal. Owners Adam, Josh, Callum and Chris I take it you know?

Still requires some putting right for me to be happy with it, and then put my own touch's on it.

Car is now on the road! Just come back from a Bristol run this morning to deliver the 182 gearbox to Bradd3rz and the car didn't skip a beat

Yep! All local to me. Glad to hear it's still going strong. It was a nippy car! Agree with you on the cams, I don't think they've been done, but it was slightly quicker than my cup which only has a KTR Supersport stealth on it.

Will have to come along to a meet soon, be nice to see it again. Almost loved it more than my own!!

110% it hasn't got any map or cammed like the guy before mentioned, could tell that on the test drive

The Cup gearbox seems to have wakened it up a bit unless it's because I haven't driven it for a month and got used to the smart car lol

No meets for me until I see the car as mint myself dude I'm afraid, reputation and all that ha

Thanks Alex :)

Love that you're cleaning it up again. Liking the idea of Williams wheels too... Are they a temporary replacement? What happened to the orange turinis that were on them?

Also, how come you felt the need to add a third seatbelt?

  Cup In bits
Decent project, <3 white clio's.

I do the exact same when I get a car, go through it with a fine tooth comb until I'm happy its how it should be. You never have to worry after that as you know what's been done and know the car inside out.

The Williams wheels are only on until I sort the Turini's out, they need tyres and are in a hugely poor state from DIY painting

I had all the third belt bits with the rest of the seat belts and as it has non cup interior, why not really, the lap belt and single bench without headrests look budget imo

Ahh... I put a 182 interior in mine but the Cups don't come with a middle belt as standard so left it with 2 rear belts.

Looking forward to your next update!

Great work chap, much improved!

Im looking forward to starting on the bodywork but the exhaust I think will be next and having the alignments and camber set up as its driving all over the place and my ears are still ringing from yesterdays trip!
