So now it was just the brakes to tidy up (so I thought…) then finished off with some Poorboys Wheel Sealant
AT LAST... all ready for it’s MOT… Considering it had already run out by this stage!
Happy Days… Stick my loose drivers door bullet back on and good to go...
Until I saw this… !!! 😂:laughing::smile::smiley:ersevere::anguished:😢
The bearing crapped itself upon removal, and the spacer was stuck on to the hub, which then bent on removal…
This is where I owe a huge thank you for @George@RTR_Parts for all his help in getting me sorted
Queries, part numbers, urgent posting and parts! Thanks again mate! :beers:
Again, ABS rings removed, then posted off to @ashtons99 . Glad they were of help pal
I could see that the caliper was sticking, causing more heat and what probably killed the disc. Inspected the calipers and they weren’t looking good.
As I had already unseized them earlier in the thread, and I couldn’t move the pistons at all, it was time to replace them.
Went for New Bosch refurb units:
Started fitting the N/S but the brake union / pipe was seized and rusted together…
After lots of freeing up, ended up having to cut it off…
Continued to fit parts as they arrived
New brake pipe from George which thankfully was still available pre-made from Renault
Replaced the damaged Disc Spacer
New Genuine Handbrake Cables
ATE Typ 200
Rear Pad Fitting Kit (Only because it was cheap to re-new again)
and a trusty Gunson Eezibleed
With the clocks changing (and trying to work with my phone torch in the dark) Invested in some half usable portage lighting…!
Test drive… and one caliper still generating more heat and slightly sticking…! :unamused:
Checked, checked, and checked, everything over again. All correctly torqued and assembled, so came on here for help which identified this causing the problem… oo:
Quick Winter clean down of tree sap
The car sat here until the parts arrived from France as Renault UK no longer stocked some of the brackets, and I wanted to replace the whole lot
Heat, wire brushing and brake cleaner later, I eventually managed to remove the complete compensator and associated parts
What a total mess, all seized and unserviceable…
Thankfully managed to save the flexi to compensator lines as they weren’t available from Renault
Parts arrived from France, thanks to Paul @renaultpartsdirect for his help obtaining these for me
Went for HEL Braided Lines over replacement OE items, but in solid blue to match in with the Bilstein theme
Assembled the compensator, lines and new brackets / fixings / clips and bolts etc
As I had already replaced the N/S brake line, and because it was available, I replaced the O/S line across the rear beam.
It got picked up as an advisory on last MOT anyway. Thanks to George for the better safe than sorry box lol
Fitted Compensator at last
