Porsche Cayman S Race Car

We find TD take an age when we order wheels in! Work is looking fantastic on it Sam...both in pace and quality! We got 2 wins with the 993 I was running at Donny on Saturday which is a good start.

Looks superb, how much would a sequential likely set you back for one of these Sam?

Nice one, was that in Britcar? Might be doing a few rounds later in the season, you guys doing any GT Cup?
Glad we aren't the only ones being fobbed off by them.

About 8-10k for the box then loom and ECU so we can have paddles and autoblip. Doubtful it will happen, me old man will take some persuading.

Would be worth every penny, surely? :)

Alternatively, how much of the current box would you end up using or would it be fully rebuilt with bespoke casings/gearset?

It would for outright performance but it would mean missing a lot of race weekends. If we did go for it we'd make a 996/997 cup racer box fit seen as its tried and tested equipment It has been done in America and Porsche built 1 GT4 Cayman and I think it had a sequential box but it never raced.

Another avenue would be custom gear set and keep the H pattern. These are all longer term though at the moment we just want to get it out racing!

The boys are certainly not hanging about! Lights in, rads, tank, subframes. Oh and some rear wheels have turned!!!

Popped in today for a seat fitting and to measure up for a steering wheel, hugely impressed with the progress and workmanship of SVP. Everything is going together nicely and its back on all four wheels!

The flywheel and clutch have turned up but we are waiting on the spigot bearing so the standard item is in there currently. The GT3 white against the black trim and wheels is a great combo and its a shame to put any stickers on it.

The pictures are a bit crap as I didn't want to get in the way, the geo and ride height are yet to done too hense the rally car esque arch gap. The car goes for its final flatting down on Tuesday then Oulton Wednesday then onto Brands Friday-Saturday.

This thing is mental. First lap out, first test, NO setup and sams chasing a GT3 Vantage round, actually scary how much it goes. Helps that the mowles ain't slow either. Cage is FIT too.

Rod let go punching a hole in the liner and sending the piston into the valves and the crank though the crank carrier. The piston metal went into the inlet and down into the other bank. Number 5 and 6 hydraulically locked due the liner breaking. All in all a pretty good blow up.

Hopefully sourcing an engine in time for next weekend but the Bank holiday is causing havoc.

Before that the car was quick and the chassis was beautifully balanced after we fitted stiffer front spring and a few other bits and bobs. Gutted is an understatement.

Newly rebuilt engine?

Nope just had new ancillaries, plugs, core etc. It had a good check over but you cant get access to the crank due to the flat layout. Just one of those things, we know a few others who have had the similar issue with taking a road engine and racing it mainly 996 3.4s.
