I’m fitting new discs & pads all round and have sprayed the ‘bell’ part of the rear discs with high-temperature paint (the fronts are already painted/coated). Its recommended to heat treat the paint once applied therefore ordinarily I would stick the disc in the oven for say 30 mins at 200c...
The underside of my facelift 220 is completely covered but as far as I am aware it has a centre-silencer as well as the rears.
One thing I’ve done on previous cars where I haven’t wanted to do a new full exhaust change, and also risk changing the type of sound, but just wanted to make it a tad...
I am soon replacing the discs & pads F&R on my 220 and can’t find anything as to what all the torque settings should be.
As far as I am aware:
Fronts:
Calliper bolts
Disc to hub bolts
Rear:
Calliper bolts
Disc to axle bolt
Are there any others I've missed and does anyone know what all...
I’m going to fit some new braided hoses (and discs & pads) and just want to push a drop of fluid through the hoses.
Will put some ‘standard’ fluid in so I don’t need to worry about a full flush and therefore the ABS pump (I think – is this correct?).
Was looking at getting an Easybleeder but...
I know there’s a lot of ‘experts’ out there but has anyone actually tuned their 220 yet, if so what did you do please?
I’ve booked mine at Engine Dynamics for an intercooler, filter, induction hose and re-map, should hopefully be around 250bhp.
(Apparently none of the 220’s actually come with...
It appears the original fit Pilot Super Sports have been superseded with the Pilot Sport 4 S (I’ve had these on other cars and they’re a great tyre) but according to Michelin they don’t come in the regular 205/40/18 size. If staying with Michelin then the ‘best’ tyre they do in that size is the...
Just a suggestion, but what about separate sections for the different MK’s? I.e. MK 1 (can’t remember what they were other that the Williams’) MK2 (172/182), MK3 (197/200) and MK4 (200/220)?
Unless I’ve missed it I can’t find anything in either manuals....
There is a PDI form where someone has written checked & 110nm, but this seems a bit low to me.
Does anyone please know the correct Renault specified setting?
Thanks!
In my old RS Megane I think (could be wrong though) that the Sport setting relaxed the traction control and then it was fully off in Race.
The 220 manual isn’t clear though regarding this and it looks like Sport doesn’t effect the traction control at all but just the gearbox and throttle (which...
Apologies if this has been covered before but I couldn’t see anything for the 200/220, nor on the interweb.
I’m fine with the jacking points, but I need to leave the car on stands for a few days while I take the wheels off.
Where are the best places please to put the stands underneath?
Thanks!
I have a small chip on the silver part of the rear bumper (presume this is the same silver as on the front blade), does anyone please know the paint code?
Many thanks
I was just on the Toyo site as considering running slightly larger 205/50/15's next rather than the OEM 195/50/15's.
The sizes & specification chart has a column marked "Approved Rim Width Range" with a minimum - ideal - maximum recommended rim width for each size of tyre.
For example, for...
On both sides of the car in-between where the two arms of the wishbones connect to the chassis there are two upturned triangles of metal bolted to the chassis. I have taken them off because they were rusty and didn't seem to do anything.
They weren't supporting anything, or providing...
I know this sounds obvious but could someone who knows for definite please confirm that the green arrow pointing out from the tank is the fuel feed and the red arrow pointing back into the tank is the fuel return. There isn't some strange French engineering reason why it would be the opposite...
Has anyone used the paste? I've used the spray and it works really well but there are the odd few places in corners that without literally scratching the pad dust off with my fingernail I cant get it off. Am hoping the paste would do the trick?
As above. Will be buying some from R-Sport this week, just wanted to know if anyone knew what the differences were, or had any photos of the 197/200 seats. Thanks, Mark
Is there normally anything between the side-mount and the seat itself, i.e a penny washer, or even a thicker washer, or are the side-mounts bolted directly to the seat? Thanks.
Is there any REAL difference between the blue 8mm leads and the red 8.5mm leads when used on the MK2 Clios? I have a red set on at the moment and having OCD fancy changing to blue to colour-coordinate but obviously not if its going to make any difference. (The car is NA but with ITB’S and cams...
What's the latest and best (cost not too important withoutgoing silly) at removing brake dust?
Since I've fitted PF07 pads to my Alcons the brake dust createdis ridiculous and dries on literally like mud to the wheels and is also abugger to get off the paintwork as well. I'm not a detailer so...
I've got a firewall cover over my wheel-well that contains a swirl-pot and auxiliary pump & regulator etc, I need to be able to relatively easily remove the cover so using bolts and nuts from underneath the boot floor is not really viable. The cover was originally held down with self-tapping...
There are 6 (I think without checking) little countersunk Allen bolts which fix my steering wheel to the QR boss, partially because I've rounded one of the bolts and partially because I fancy adding a bit of colour, could I swap these bolts for some good quality Pro-Bolt anodised aluminium...
Long story short I'd like to remove my rocker cover and give it a clean up, but its held in place by the engine mount/bracket on the left hand side. I've heard that removing the bracket interferes with the cams - don't know how true this is and I've never seen underneath the bracket so don't...
Has anyone fitted Aerocatches to the rear hatch? - If so any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated, especially as to where to mount them. I want to get rid of the standard catch as think this is knocking, plus save a bit of weight getting rid of the locking mechanism etc etc. I’ve got the...
To cut a very long story short I've replaced my dashboard loom twice now as I buggered my old loom and then once I fitted the first replacement realised it had been previously partially stripped back so I replaced it a 2nd time. Prior to fitting either I had no lights appearing on the clocks...
I need to have some lights on my clocks turned off - ideally I would pop around at the weekend or after work one evening and would obviously pay for your time, thanks Mark.
I've sprayed a piece off the dashboard myself with a rattle-can, the finish is pretty good having sanded the piece itself and then the primer and also in-between each couple of coats all with 1200 wet & dry. My question is how fine would I need to go down to after the final coat to then be able...
I have 15 relays in the main relay/UCH board, does anyone know where I can find a list/guide of what they all do? I've had a search on here and on the internet but can't find anything. They are lettered A - Q, missing out I and O. Thanks Mark.
I've previously removed my fog-lights and modified the housings to improve cooling to the front brakes, but I now want to be able to blank them off when its cold or raining. Was there ever a base model Ph 1 that had blanks instead of the fog lights? If so does anyone know the part number, or...
